DCRC Masters - Programs

Membership Classes

Competitive. Competitive Masters train throughout the year. Beginning in early March, training sessions are scheduled for two weekday and a Saturday morning. In June an extra weekday morning session is added. This group will train on the water up until the last regatta of the season in early November. We offer coached sessions with the goal of competing at at least one of the area regattas. Space is limited, so register early. Due to the limited space, those wishing to train with this group are requested to commit to the training schedule. Competitive members have the option of purchasing season memberships, or they can pick up an annual membership package which runs from June 1 until May 31.

Recreational. Recreational rowers are offered coached sessions Monday through Friday evenings. This group comes down during the Open Rowing sessions. Recreational Rowing encompasses rowers who are looking to stay in shape as well as those who are just wishing to get out water and enjoy the sights of Deep Cove. While boatings will be decided depending on who is present, it is possible to make requests for certain boats and/or crews. Recreation rowers can purchase seasonal or annual memberships. Another option for DCRC paid members is either the Punch Card or Drop-In Fee. Masters Rec members are encouraged to take attend regattas - especially the Deep Cove Classic in the middle of October.

Seasonal Memberships

Fall Season. Competitive members have two sessions during the week and one Saturday morning. Rec rowers are offered practice times weekday evenings up until the Thanksgiving weekend. Regattas available at this time include the Deep Cove Classic and Head of the Gorge/Elk in Victoria

Winter Season. While The Cove rarely freezes during the winter months, our access to water is limited by daylight hours. There are morning cross training sessions offered at Parkgate Rec Centre as well as the opportunity to use DCRC's indoor rowing machines.

Spring Season. The Spring Rowing Season is only available for the Competitive Masters. Starting in early March, there are two weekday morning practices as well as a Saturday morning session. DCRC Masters represent the club at regattas in Victoria and Everett, Washington.

Summer Season. Open to both Competitive and Recreational members. The competitive group switched to three weekday morning practices along with the Saturday morning session. Recreation members are free come to as many of the evening Open Rowing sessions as they would like.
